Why I Opened CPS:

As someone with 6 children to care for, I always felt bad for my lovely schnauzer, Scarlett, as she was always scraggly. But, with many mouths to feed, we lacked the extra money to be able to get her groomed often. We got around this problem for my children since I was always the one to cut their hair, which gave me the idea to learn how to groom her. In that process, When I would sit down to do my mother-in-law’s dogs we would always joke around that one day I would own a business and I would get to name it after myself.

I truly never thought that it would happen, but here I am. After the kids were out of the house, I saw a dog grooming business for sale and I decided in March of 2017 to buy it. I renamed it to “Celestial Pet Spaw”. I started out working the whole shop by myself. My first customers were my family and friends, and I did every single dog from start to finish. That first week I was open I would sit around waiting for people to walk in or someone to call. I probably only had 5 dogs that week. Eventually I got enough clientele that I was able to hire another groomer. The more and more clients we got, the more people we were able to hire. Now I have a whole team of people helping make every dog beautiful.

This has always been more than work to me, it is a passion and a drive. Since the beginning I have taken work home, getting my family involved in the company. My husband built me my first tub, and my sons’ construction company remodeled my current location. All of my daughters have worked here at one point, working as receptionists, groomers, bathers, or boarding assistants. Even my oldest grandson has gotten involved! It has been amazing getting to work with my family and develop this business.

During March 2024, 7 years after we opened, I was able to buy my first building. It has been extremely fulfilling to be able to grow this business with friends and family by my side. And, while my beloved Scarlett has now passed, she got to spend the rest of her life getting professionally groomed. I hope to be able to provide the care that I was able to give to Scarlett to every other pup that comes to visit us.
